Kisekelwa

Kisekelwa is working as an Associate Professor at the Biology Department at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu and a Guest Professor at the Catholic University of Bukavu / DRC. He holds a PhD in Biology from the KU Leuven in Belgium. He is working on fish using classical and molecular approaches to address the questions related to taxonomy, phylogeny, environment and ecology. He has discovered 10 new fish species among which one has been published and the papers of the remaining are either in preparation or submitted. He is also investigating the fish community of Lake Kivu.

 

Boniface Kaningini

He is an Emeritus Professor at the Biology Department at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu and a Guest Professor at the Catholic University of Bukavu / DRC. He holds his PhD from the University of Namur. He was working on the biology of Limnothrissa miodon (Boulenger, 1906) and its management. Now he is acting as an advisor of the newly engaged junior and senior researchers in the framework of biological studies.

Pascal Masilya

He is a full Professor at the Biology Department at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu and a Guest Professor at the Catholic University of Bukavu and the Evangelical University in Africa / DRC. He holds his PhD from the University of Namur in Belgium. He is primarily a specialist in trophic ecology and is further interested in questions related to fisheries management in inland lakes.

Héritier Kamalebo

He is an Associate Professor at the Biology Department at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu and a Guest Professor at the Catholic University of Bukavu / DRC. He holds his PhD at the University of Kisangani in DRC. He is a botanist working primarily on fungal taxonomy and ecology.

Riziki Walumona

He is an Associate Professor at the Chemistry Department at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu and a Guest Professor at the Catholic University of Bukavu / DRC. He holds his PhD in Aquatic Sciences, Fisheries management option from the University of Eldoret in Kenya. He is working on various aspects of aquatic ecology and fisheries.

Fabrice Muvundja

He is a full Professor at the Chemistry Department at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu and Adjunct Professor at the Catholic University of Bukavu / DRC. He holds his PhD from the University of Namur in Belgium. He is working on various aspects of chemical limnology in lakes and rivers.

Louisette Wimba

She is a Professor at the Pharmaceutical Section at the Institut Supérieur des Techniques Médicales (ISTM) of Bukavu / DRC. She is a PhD holder from the University of Kinshasa in DRC. She is investigating the relations between zooplankton and Vibrio cholerae in Lake Kivu.

Béni Hyangya

He is a Lecturer at the Biology Department at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu / DRC. He holds two MSc degrees: one at the University of Burundi and another at the University of Liege in Belgium. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Kisangani in DRC. He is working on macroinvertebrates with a special focus on molluscs and Chironomidae.

Espérance Musombwa

She is an Assistant Lecturer at the Biology Department at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu / DRC. He holds her MSc degree at the University of Abomey Calavy in Benin. She is working on the taxonomy, genetics and evolution of a loach catfish.

Jacques Mazambi

He is a Lecturer at the Sciences Infirmières Section at the Institut Supérieur des Techniques Médicales of Bukavu / DRC. He is a MSc degree holder from the University of Abomey Calavi in Benin and PhD candidate at the University of Burundi in Burundi. He tries to understand the effect of habitats on the biology and distribution of fish fauna in Lake Kivu across the southern basin.

Joyeuse Mudagi

She is an Assistant Lecturer at Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu / DRC. She has a BSc degree in Biology (5 years) at the ISP. She is working on fish addressing various questions below the species level, i.e. at the population’s levels using morphological and DNA approaches.

Alimasi Wilondja

He is an Assistant Lecturer at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu / DRC. He is BSc in Biology (5 years) from the ISP. He is investigating some taxonomical questions raised by some fish species in Lake Kivu using morphological, ecological and likely genomic approaches.

Lebon Amani

He is an Assistant Lecturer at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu / DRC. He is BSc in Biology (5 years) from the ISP. He is working on parasites of fish, at present using the morphological approach and later on, using the molecular approach.

Heri Muzungu

He is an Assistant Lecturer at the Institut Supérieur Agronomique et Gestion de l’Environnement Kahuzi Biega (ISAGE) in Bunyakiri / DRC. He is BSc in Biology (5 years) from the Official University of Bukavu /DRC. He is working on various aspects related to fish biology and the management plan throughout the river systems of the Lowa basin.

Georges Alunga

He is a Junior Researcher at the CERUKI at the Insititut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu / DRC. He has a MSc degree from University of Liege in Belgium. He is an expert in aquaculture.

Diste Kulimushi

He is working as a Technician at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique of Bukavu / DRC. He is BSc in Biology (5 years) from the ISP. He is interested in macroinvertebrates.

David Biringanine

David, an assistant lecturer and researcher at the Environment and Geo-Resources Research Center of the  Catholic University of Bukavu / DRC, holds a BSc in Aquatic Ecology and Ecosystem Management (5 years) from the same institution. Alongside his role as a webmaster, his fervent passion for GIS, Remote Sensing, and Biostatistics drives his mission to enhance water quality monitoring in the African Great Lakes region.

Irène Malekelera

She is an environmentalist. She holds a BSc degree in Environmental Sciences (5 years) from the Catholic University of Bukavu / DRC. She will be involved in various projects related to conservation.
